WELCOME TO OSLOFiaf Congress Excursion Day
Thursday May 6 2010 – Norwegian Explorers.
You are going to be furnished with an Oslo Pass for a day Visit Oslo + The Fiaf Congress Card. Bring them!
At 10.15 AM we will meet you on the pier below Oslo Town Hall.
We will guide you aboard the Bygdøy Ferry
Which will go several trips across the Oslo Fjord to Bygdøy to get everybody over to the Bygdøy Museum Area
There we will split you up in 3- 4 groups language wise, English, French, Spanish – and Scandinavian if necessary.
Some of the groups will start at the Fram Museum; the rest will go to the Kon Tiki Museum in guided tours
After guided tours lunch is served on- and around the polar ship Fram.
Afterwards, you can choose to take the ferry back to Oslo, the boats leave every 30 minutes. Departeture time for the ferry. You can also take the bus from outside the Kon Tiki Museum. Bus 30 leaves every 10 minutes and goes into the center of Oslo.
However, there is much to see at Bygdøy. The Norwegian Maritime Museum is right opposite of the Fram building. http://norsk-sjofartsmuseum.no/
Or – if weather is nice and you need to move a bit: 15 minutes walk takes you to the The Viking Ship Museum
A few steps down the road will take you to the
Norwegian Museum of Cultural History "In the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, one of Europe's
largest open-air museums, you find a variety of traditional houses from all over Norway. During the
summer season lots of activities take place such as folk dancing, arts and crafts, baking, domestic
animals, shows etc.
Several indoor exhibits with traditional handicraft items, folk costumes, furniture and church interiors.
Recommended activities for children, horse and carriage ride, visit the animals or an old-fashioned candy store."
